This education presentation provides an overview of the issues facing counsel when dealing with legal matters involving electronic evidence. The session is comprised of a presentation and an accompanying Q & A session.

 

In the presentation Crystal O’Donnell, the founder of Heuristica Discovery Counsel, provides an educational briefing on how new technology and innovative methodologies can provide counsel and their clients with proportionate and defensible processes, and reduce costs and risks while increasing client value. The presentation provides counsel with information about the developing legal requirements for defensibility and professional competence.

 

The session qualifies for required LSUC continuing professional development hours, and can be accredited for professionalism hours.

Courses

Electronic Discovery Practice and Principles

The Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario, Fellowship Course, January 12 – March 29, 2016

Designed for litigation support professionals and law clerks, this course will explore the legal and practical principles of electronic discovery in a legal practice context. Using the Electronic Discovery Reference Model and the Sedona Canada Principles, we will discuss the issues and tasks underlying each phase of the process. With an emphasis on proportionality and defensibility at every stage, practical information will be covered, including cooperative discovery planning, the supporting evidence required for discovery motions, and the admissibility of evidence.

 

We will cover how to best work in a cost-effective manner and bring value to the legal team and client.
