We are pleased to sponsor a BC Legal Management Association (BCLMA) and International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) joint session entitled “Best Practices for Implementing New Technologies in eDiscovery”.

Hosted by the Vancouver office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, Crystal O’Donnell, Heuristica’s Founder and CEO, will present a lunch session on new technologies in eDiscovery on Tuesday, May 15 at noon.

Advances in technology enable parties to conduct discovery without relying on traditional linear or ‘eyes-on’ review models.  Crystal will discuss best practices and emerging case law for implementing technology to successfully manage ediscovery in a defensible, proportionate and cost-effective manner.  The session will cover topics including:

  • eDiscovery legal principles and obligations in Canada
  • Developments in Canadian case law and emerging policy developments
  • Analytics tools available in ediscovery review platforms
  • Incorporating technology assisted review (TAR) in a defensible and proportionate manner

The BCLMA’s mission is to enhance the competence and professionalism of legal services management provided by individuals of the association within the legal community of British Columbia.  More information about the association is available on their web site.

ILTA is an international volunteer-led, staff-managed association with a focus on premiership.  It aims to educate its members and connect them with peers to support their work in the legal sector.  While the association has a strong focus on technology, its offerings support professionals of every stripe in law firms and corporate/government legal operations.  More information about the association is available on their web site.
